988 is the official three-digit code for mental health and suicide crises. Callers will be connected with trained counselors who can listen, offer support, and provide more resources. Loved ones can also dial 988 if they are worried about someone who may need crisis support. Issues they can help with include:
Suicidal thoughts or ideation
A mental health crisis
A substance use crisis
Any other kind of emotional distress
