A Bit About Catherine

I bring over 30 years of experience as a Licensed Psychologist, during which time I’ve had the privilege of supporting thousands of clients on their journeys of healing, growth and connection. My approach is rooted in a deep commitment to understanding the unique experiences of each person I work with. My practice integrates an in-depth understanding of neurobiology with trauma and attachment informed therapy, reflecting my belief that sustainable growth arises when knowledge and experience are thoughtfully woven together.
In 2020, after decades of practice as a Licensed Psychologist, I founded Mollner Mental Health and began my private practice. Shortly thereafter, I moved to my current office in the historic Dacotah Building on Selby Avenue, near downtown St. Paul. This phase of my career has been especially meaningful, allowing me to continue providing deeply personalized care in a space designed for healing and growth.
I have lived most of my life in the Twin Cities. I have been married for over 40 years and am a parent of three children. I enjoy hiking, spending time with my grandchildren (I learn so much from them) and pursuing my new winter passion, speed skating.

My journey into psychology began long before my formal career. As a child, I was deeply curious about the inner experiences of others—their motivations, joys, and struggles. Over time, this curiosity blossomed into a profound interest in understanding how life experiences shape us and what a path to healing, growth, and freedom might look like.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the corporate world, earning an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and building a career in Human Resources. My volunteer activity was similarly focused on relationships. It was during this time that I realized my passion for relationships and personal growth and motivated by this decided to pivot my professional aspirations toward psychology. I pursued a master’s degree in psychology at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, graduating in 1992, and have been licensed by the state of Minnesota since 1994.

I’ve continued my professional development as a lifelong learner. I’m a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and have earned credentials in Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning Experience (DARe), The Developmental Model of Couples Therapy, and Relational Empowerment Therapy. I’ve also received extensive training in Post Induction Therapy (developed by Pia Mellody).

My work is grounded in guiding clients through corrective experiences to alleviate suffering, deepen relational satisfaction, and foster new insights about themselves. Whether working with couples, adolescents, or adults, I draw on my training and experience to help clients overcome obstacles and find greater clarity and vitality in their lives.

I remain dedicated to learning from gifted thought leaders, teachers and leading voices in attachment, trauma, neurobiology, and relationships, continually expanding my understanding of how to foster meaningful connection—within ourselves and with others—and how to cultivate a more fulfilling, vibrant life.
